Situated on four miles of beachfront along the Gulf of California, the 184-unit MayanPalace Puerto Peñasco Mayan Resorts brings a new level of luxury to one of Mexico’s most rustic sites. Located in the northern state of Sonora, Puerto Peñasco is a picturesque fishing village just 60 miles from the U.S. border. Also known as “Rocky Point,” Puerto Peñasco has recently begun to be developed and Grupo Mayan is leading the way.

In addition to the wealth of traditional amenities you’ve come to expect from Grupo Mayan, the MayanPalace Puerto Peñasco features an 18-hole, Nicklaus-designed golf course, two tennis courts, an outdoor Olympic-size swimming pool, an indoor pool, Health Spa, Fitness Center and more. Dining and entertainment opportunities abound with Bakal Restaurant, Balche Snack and Pool Bar, the Lobby Bar and Lounge, an entertainment center with video games and a cyber café.

As MayanPalace Puerto Peñasco grows, se does the infrastructure supporting its growth. The first phase of a new International Airport Del Mar de Cortes in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora will be completed in January, 2009. This state-of-the-art facility will have the capacity to serve two 737 jets and 10 executive aircrafts simultaneously. In 2009, a new 30.6 mile highway, being constructed by Grupo Mayan, will run from the Arizona border directly to the new airport and the MayanPalace development.

Just a three-hour drive from Phoenix, Puerto Peñasco is the closest shoreline to Arizona. It is becoming an increasingly popular destination for tourists and new residents alike. Some 40 new real estate developments and nine golf courses have been built within the past few years or are currently under construction.

Grupo Mayan had made the decision to demolish the 15-year-old Acapulco MayanPalace and rebuild new units to meet current MayanPalace standards. In order to accommodate Members during construction, we first built a new Acapulco MayanPalace on the golf course just 400 yards away while the existing MayanPalace was being rebuilt.

Acapulco MayanPalace will be completed in winter of 2008. At that time, the existing MayanPalace will be demolished. After reconstruction you will be able to enjoy rooms and suites that will be 50% larger than existing units, featuring luxurious furnishings and high-quality finishes. Just as we did with the MayanPalace Puerto Vallarta in 1996, we are undertaking all improvements at no extra cost to Members.
